Karen Sue Cross, age 75, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 at her home in Topeka. Karen was born August 21, 1942 in Hutchinson the daughter of Harold and Darlene Mitchell Schroll. She graduated from Hutchinson High School. She married Lloyd Cross June 18, 1960 in Hutchinson. Karen worked as a passionate baker at Dillons and Walmart. She also worked at the Bread Store in Topeka, as well as serving as an Avon Representative. She attended the former Oakland Christian Church and recently the Community Church in Topeka. Karen enjoyed University of Kansas Basketball, K.C. Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals. She also played on several bowling and softball leagues. She also was a member of the Red Hat Lady Club. Karen was a cancer survivor, battling breast cancer for over 25 years. Karen was preceded in death by two sons, Jeff Cross May 28, 2013 and David Cross July 11, 2014 and three sisters, Glenda Turner, Marsha Monk and Linda Monk. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd of over 58 years; a daughter, Janet (Steve) Barlow of Topeka; a brother, George Sanders of Ohio; a sister, Shelle Adamopoulos of Gallatin, Tennessee; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. She will lie in state Monday from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Rochester Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Hospice Care of Topeka and left in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. davidsonfuneral.com.
