Karen Elaine Barnes, 73, Topeka, died Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Stormont-Vail Hospital. She was born July 3, 1943, in Topeka, the daughter of Alfred and Jennie (Smith) Chenoweth.
Karen graduated from Seaman High School in 1961. She and her husband had owned and operated the Dam Store at Lake Perry. She was currently employed by Peggy's Tax Service.
On August 12, 1961, Karen was married to Robert Ralph Barnes. He survives of the home.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters: Jenni L. Kahle of Topeka and Jeanette N. Allington (Clinton) of Kansas City, MO; and three grandchildren: Lindsey Barnes of Kansas City, MO, Chase Kahle (Corrine) of Rockville, MD, and Hali Dinwiddie of Columbia, MO.
Karen will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
Private interment of cremains will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens, 820 NW Auburn Road, Topeka, KS.
