June Ella Lowery, 88, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at home. She was born June 25, 1920 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Elbert Pratt and Beulah Henderson.
June graduated from Catoosa High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Harold Linihan in 1940. He was a bomber pilot during WWII and was killed December 24, 1943. She later married Claude Lowery Jr. in 1947. Together they moved to Chelsea and opened Lowery's Variety, Furniture and Hardware Store. He preceded her in death on September 18, 1961 due to an automobile accident. After June's retirement, she moved to Topeka, KS in 1992.
Survivors include: Two daughters, JoAn (David) Tadlock, Fort Collins, CO; and Claudia (Kenny) Wells, Topeka, KS; Two sisters, Elberta Tevis, Kansas City, KS; and Marjorie Lawson, Tulsa, OK; Five grandchildren, Robin, Kevin, Heather, Kurtis, and Wendi; Ten great-grandchildren, Dusty, Cody, Noah, Hayden, Jeremy, Konner, Corissa, Isabella, Owen and Rylan; Cousins, and her "special" cousin Gene Sturges; Nephews, Curt, Steve, Gary and Mark; and niece, Jan.
Graveside services will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, Tulsa, Oklahoma Monday, November 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel of Topeka, Kansas is assisting with arrangements.
