OBITUARY: Julie G. Frisbie
Julie G. Frisbie, 65, Grantville, died Tues., Feb. 13, 2012, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. She was born Jan. 19, 1947, in Topeka, the daughter of George Patrick and Mary Frances (Chapman) Frisbie. She lived at Grantville most of her life and was educated at Grantville Grade School, Perry Rural High School, received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (Social Studies & English) from the University of Kansas and a Master of Science degree from Kansas State University in Administration and Foundations of Higher Education. She did post graduate work at Emporia State University in Education & Psychology. Julie was a teacher in schools of Jefferson County and rural Atchison County for most of her 34 year professional career. She retired in 2006 from Northeast Kansas Education Service Center, now known as Keystone Learning Services and taught four years at Southard School – Menninger's in Topeka until they closed in 2000. In 2007, she retired as a gifted facilitator for Jefferson West USD 340 schools and Atchison Co. Community High School. Julie was active in the campaigns of Senator Pat Roberts, Jefferson County Historical Society at Old Jefferson Town, a member of the Freedom's Frontiers National Heritage Area representing Jefferson County, a retired board member for the Kansas Association of the Gifted, Talented, and Creative, and a retired board member of Kansas NEA representing Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, and Jefferson County teachers. She was a member of the Topeka Woman's Club and Gillman duplicate bridge team. She was a member of the American Contract Bridge League, playing with the Wednesday Oskaloosa bridge group, and with the Ace of Hearts and Friday Morning Women's Club group in Topeka and regularly qualified for the North American Pairs. She was a member of the Grantville United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary at Ozawkie, spiritually supported member of McPherson Demolition volleyball and the POETS group of Topeka & Lawrence. Ms. Frisbie is survived by a twin sister, Judith K. Roberts (Howard Brooks), nephew Ryan and wife Shawn Roberts of Scott City, and niece Kelley Roberts Lincoln and husband Lance of Topeka, two grand nieces Kaitlyn and Madison Roberts of Scott City and two grand nephews Cale and Cooper Lincoln of Topeka. Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM, Sat., Feb. 18, 2012, at the Grantville United Methodist Church. Private interment of cremains will be in Grantville Cemetery.
