Judith H. McClenny, 84, of Topeka, passed away on December 2, 2022 at Stormont Vail Hospital.
She was born on March 16, 1938 to William and Mary Lyrl (Denham) Horn in Topeka, Kansas.
Judy attended Topeka High School. Throughout her life, Judy enjoyed learning new things, teaching herself photography and many other arts and crafts. She hosted beautiful family gatherings and created nurturing spaces. Judy loved literature and poetry, and instilled a love of language in her children. She loved nature and animals and was very passionate about wildlife protection and conservation.
She was a dedicated and creative homemaker, mom, grandmother, and great grandmother. Judy gave of herself, not only in caring for her own children, but providing daycare and taking responsibility for the care of her cousin and brother towards the end of their lives. She worked as a Veterinary Tech for the University Bird and Small Animal Clinic for many years. As a lover of animals she provided homes for many discarded and unwanted pets.
Judy is survived by her loving children, Jayme K. Lyons and Jacqueline (Mark Volmut) McClenny; grandchildren, Rachael (Russell Hunt) Thompson, and Kathleen Lyons; great grandchildren, Ewan Thompson and Elliott Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John McClenny; both of her parents; and brother, David A. Horn.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 9, 2022, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Parker-Price Funeral Home. Memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm
Judy's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
