Joyce "Joy" Ellene Weiler-Forster, 94, died December 7, 2022, at Lexington Park in Topeka, KS. She was born April 5, 1928, to Amos and Ellen (Marker) Crockett, in Marion, KS. She grew up in Alden with her two beloved sisters, Betty and Jackie. She graduated from Alden High School and attended Kansas State University where she studied Home Economics. There she met the love of her life, William J. "Bud" Weiler. They married on June 30, 1946 in Chase, KS, and enjoyed almost 50 years of marriage until his death on Jan 19, 1995.
Joy worked as a keypunch operator at Ohse Meats, Good Year, Continental Service Inc., and was the first female computer operator to work at Capitol Federal in Topeka. After retirement, she was a receptionist for Atria Hearthstone, then a home health care provider for Comfort Keepers.
Joy was a lifelong lover of animals, music, theater, and traveling. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved laughing and telling stories, especially with her sisters and family. She loved a good true crime book, always kept up on current pop culture, and never failed to be the life of the party. In most ways, Joy never got old.
Survivors include: son, William "Buddy" Weiler, Jr. and wife Beth of Topeka; daughter Elizabeth Weiler and husband Ben White of Lawrence; grandson Kenneth Bush of Topeka; step-grandson Aaron White and wife Hallee of Carbondale; great-grandchildren, Morgan Hardy and husband Skylar of Topeka, Palmer Bush of Lawrence; step-great-grandchild, Griffin White; and two great-great-grandchildren, Roland and Rory Hardy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; daughters, Michele Weiler and Kathy Bush; and sisters, Betty Frederick and Jacquelyn Proffitt.
