Joyce V. Knox

September 24, 1923 — June 18, 2012

Joyce V. Knox, 88, of Topeka, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012.

She was born September 24, 1923 in Valley Falls, KS, the daughter of John Vernon and Ethel Roberta (Bedwell) Ferrell. She was a graduate of Valley Falls High School. She was employed by Santa Fe Railroad, retiring after 23 years. She later worked for Bee Line Fashions for 10 years. She also worked part time with R & K Supply with Rollie and later at Knox Supply with her entire family.

Mrs. Knox was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, and Ladies Auxiliary for the Arab Shrine, both of Topeka.

Joyce married Rollie A. Knox, Jr. on February 1, 1951 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1998. Survivors include five children, Michael (Betty Lou) Berry of Tuscon, AZ, Marla (David) Marlow, Darren Knox, Jacalyn Knox, all of Topeka, and Rollie "Alan" (Bev) Knox, of Santa Clara, UT; 7 grandchildren, Brannon Marlow, Delaine Traphagan, Angee Henderson, Lauren Murray, Dallas Knox, Alex Knox, and Elliot Knox; 7 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Tanner, Brianna, Drew, Halli, Avery, and Addison; three siblings, Jean Paul, Marvin Ferrell, and Kenneth Ferrell; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Vernon Ferrell.

Joyce enjoyed traveling with Rollie and their grandchildren. She was a seamstress, who also enjoyed gardening, bird watching, woodcarving, scrapbooking, spending time with her family, cooking, knitting (making an afghan one for each of her children), crocheting and restoring antique trunks for her each of her children and grandchildren. It was easy to make her laugh.
