Joyce Verlene Urton, 85, of Topeka, Kansas passed away August 2, 2019.
Joyce was born January 7, 1934, in Lebanon, Kansas, the daughter of Cliff and Vera (Myers) Romig. She attended and graduated from Eskridge High School. She later worked as a supervisor for 22 years at Luce Press Clipping in Topeka.
Joyce was united in marriage to James Donald Urton on April 4, 1953, Topeka, KS.
Joyce loved family and her dogs, enjoyed gardening, camping, reading and her three beers a day. She was a camp host (gate attendant) at area lakes (Perry & Melvern) with her husband Don.
Survivors include her sons Jim and Curtis (Charlene) Urton; grandchildren Patricia Slover, Amber Kennedy, Jeremiah Urton, James R. Urton, Ashley Urton and Jacob Urton; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Clifford M. Romig; and sisters, Karol V. Perry and Alta Kay Hewes.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Donald Urton Sr.; sister, Alice I. Parsons; and granddaughter, Kayla Lee Urton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choosing.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eskridge Senior Center, 208 S. Main St., Eskridge, KS, on Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 7-9pm.
Inurnment at Rochester Cemetery will take place at a later date.
