Joyce A. Schwartz

Joyce A. Schwartz, age 85, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Lexington Park Nursing Home in Topeka.  Joyce was born February 1, 1937 in Dover, Kansas, the daughter of Heber and Elva (Bennett) Sweet.  Joyce graduated from Topeka High School.  She married Donald Schwartz October 3, 1970.  He preceded her in death April 15, 1999.  She worked at Topeka Lumber Company for several years and as the secretary for St. Paul Lutheran Church.  She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed ceramic classes, square dancing and tap dancing.  Later in life, she enjoyed traveling to Texas with friends.  She enjoyed Willie Nelson music.

Joyce is survived by a niece, Keri (Vern) Miller; a nephew, Kirt Gehrt; a stepdaughter, Kristy K. (Mark) Barnes of Ozawkie; great nephews and nieces, Kylie, Kyrstie, Brandon and Ian, along with several step grandchildren.  Also surviving is a lifelong friend, Roberta Walker.  Joyce was preceded in death by a stepson, Donald Schwartz, Jr., her sister, Helene Gehrt and a nephew, Kelle Gehrt.

Cremation is planned.  Inurnment services will be at the Rochester Cemetery at a later date.
