Joy Grace (Betry) Busey, 85, Auburn, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018.
She was born February 4, 1933, in Elmont, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph M. and Grace M. (Hiller) Betry. She graduated from Seaman High School in 1951.
Joy was employed by Sears for 47 years until she retired in 2013.
Joy was a member of Topeka First Free Methodist Church, where she played the organ for 50 years. She was also a member of Good Sam's Camping Club.
Joy married Harry E. Busey on December 24, 1950 at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church. He survives. Other survivors her children: Margaret Jean Nelson (Bob); Craig L. Busey (Cindy) and Christopher W. Grant; four grandchildren: David, Kimberly, Cheri and Cory and seven great-grandchildren: Nicole, Kyle, Samuel, Colby, Mason, Penelope and Logan. She is also survived by two brothers: John Garth Betry (Lois) and Morris R. Betry (Elizabeth).
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ivan R. Betry and daughter, Donna E. (Busey) Grant.
Joy loved reading, card games, dominos and playing the piano. She also enjoyed her birds and camping, visiting nearly every state.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Topeka First Free Methodist Church, 3450 SE Indiana, Topeka, KS 66605. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel.
