Joy L. Burgess

Joy L. Burgess, 69, formerly of the Manhattan area, passed away on January 18, 2022.   She was born July 1, 1952, in Manhattan the daughter of Donald and Bonnie Sowell Springer.   Joy grew up in Manhattan and graduated from Manhattan High School.   Later she attended the vo-tech school in Manhattan.   She worked as a CNA at nursing homes in Leonardville and Manhattan before retiring.  Joy enjoyed going on car rides and visiting on the phone with her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Jason Burgess of Junction City and Travis Burgess of Manhattan.  She was one of six children in her family.  She is survived by Jesse Springer of Topeka, Ronald and Russell Springer of Manhattan; grandchildren, including Kaden, Kinsey, Rilie and Fisher.

Her brother Donald Springer of Wamego and sister Connie Springer of Phillipsburg, Kansas precede her in death.

Cremation is planned.   Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka is assisting the family.
