Josephine Armenthia "Jo" Ditch Hanvy, 75, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012.
She was born January 8, 1937 in Topeka, the daughter of George Roy and Armenthia Josephine (Burgess) Ditch. She was a graduate of Topeka High School.
Jo married Doyle Edward Hanvy, Sr. on June 6, 1955 in Topeka. He survives of the home. Other survivors include five children, Darrell Hanvy, Topeka, Melissa Wilson, Silver Lake, KS, Doyse (Troy) Manz, Topeka, Doyle (Lori) Hanvy, Jr., Topeka and Joseph X Hanvy, of the home; 11 grandchildren, Amanda (Dave) Gleason, Shanna (Jesse) Finkemeier, Kayla Wilson, Andrew Bartell, Jessica Hanvy, Elizabeth Hanvy, Dalton Hanvy, Joshua Hahn, Amber Keller, Bradley Hanvy, Blake Hanvy; 8 great-grandchildren, Armenthia Monroe, Jesse and Destiny Finkemeier, Dakota and Dusty Mentzer, Chailen Brockett, Ryder Hahn and Ava Hanvy ; two brothers, Wayne Ditch, and Keith (Melissa) Ditch, Topeka and three sisters, Beverly Howerton, Topeka, Betty (Denny) Newbold, Pensacola, FL and Joyce (Steve) Sipes, Kincaid, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Laurie Newport.
Honoring her request cremation is planned. A family memorial ceremony will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012 at her residence. A public celebration of her life will be at a later date. Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, Topeka is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jo Hanvy Memorial Fund, sent in care of Kaw Valley Bank.
