Josephine F. "Jo" Adams

Josephine F. "Jo" Adams, 82, Topeka, passed away Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. She was born Aug. 2, 1922, in Topeka, the daughter of Sam and Rose Calandro. Jo was a 1940 graduate of Topeka High School. She worked for the federal government at Forbes Air Base almost 10 years. She then was a clerk/typist for the state of Kansas for 16 years in the titles and registration office. Mrs. Adams was a notary. She was a member of the Goodyear Retiree's Club. She married Russell H. Adams. He survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Barbara J. Adams, Topeka; a brother, Albert J. Calandro, Topeka; a sister, Mary Sackett, Topeka; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nephews; and three nieces. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Adams will lie in state after 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 7 p.m. unt il 8 p.m. Monday.
