OBITUARY: Joseph Franklin Sanders
Joseph Franklin Sanders, 88, died Tues., Nov. 15, 2005, at his Topeka home. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will always be remembered. He was born Sept. 12, 1917, at Kansas City, MO the son of Christian Alfred and Viola Mae (Meyers) Sanders.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Joseph was a member of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene, Philip Billard Post # 1650, V.F.W., D.A.V., and Topeka North Post # 400 of the American Legion.
Joseph was married to Agnes Elizabeth Gibeson on April 30, 1948, at Kansas City, MO. She survives of the home.
Also surviving are a daughter: Diane Manrose of Topeka; a son: Roger F. Sanders of Topeka; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a niece; and 2 nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence. A Fort Riley U.S. Army Detail will conduct military honors at Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery. Joseph will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday.
