Joseph "Joe" Garrison, 82, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 after a battle with colon cancer.
He was born July 25, 1940, in Triplett, Missouri, the son of Charles and Leona (Kornexl) Garrison. He graduated from Bosworth High School in 1959.
Joe was employed by the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library for 20 years, retiring in January 1999. Before working at the library, Joe worked for the Shawnee County Road Department. He also worked for Bob & Ray's 66 Service Station, BoBo's Drive Inn and the Shawnee County Election Board serving at The Salvation Army.
He was a member of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene, of Topeka and held various positions within the church.
Joe was married to Patty (Spencer) LeRette and they later divorced. He married Pamela "Pam" Spotts on September 4, 1993 in Topeka, Kansas.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Garrison; daughters, Terri (Danny) Morgan of Melvern, KS, Debbie Garrison of Scranton, KS and Kim Meade of Melvern, KS; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemary McMahan of Warsaw, MO and Betty Blanton of Sabetha, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Garrison; grandson, Albert Meade, Jr. and son-in-law, Bill Meade.
His family will greet friends and relatives from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Parker Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, Kansas. A celebration of Joe's life will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the Oakland Church of the Nazarene, 939 NE Oakland Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66616.
