OBITUARY: Joseph Higgins

Joseph Higgins, 83, of Topeka, died Friday, April 27, 2007, of injuries suffered in an April 24 traffic accident. The son of Joseph and Anna Boursaw Higgins, he was born July 28, 1923, in Potosi, Missouri. He served in the Air Force in World War II and was a German prisoner of war after his plane was shot down.

He married Charlotte Gesey Higgins in 1961. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Joseph Higgins, in 1963. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, a daughter Florence Bryant and her husband Greg; a daughter, Debbie Mannon, and daughter Lori Gans; and a sister Margaret Edelman.

Services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Burial will be in Muddy Creek Cemetery east of Hoyt. Joseph will lie in state after 4:00 PM, Monday at the funeral chapel. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Combat Air Museum,. P.O.
