Joseph F. " Grandpa Joe" Michalski, Sr, 72, of Topeka, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014.
He was born November 15, 1941 in Kansas City, KS, the son of Wastaw Alexander and Rosemary (Kennedy) Michalski. He was a graduate of Wyandotte High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Michalski was a self-employed insurance agent.
Joe married Emily "Sue" Laningham on July 29, 1967 in Kansas City, KS. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Trisha (Matt) Slimmer; two sons, Eric (Monica) Michalski and Joe (Brenda) Michalski, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Slimmer, Shelby Slimmer, and Skyler Slimmer, Evan Michalski, Peyton Michalski, Jake Michalski, Kendall Michalski and Emma Michalski, all of Topeka; and five siblings, Robert Michalski, Kansas City, KS, John (Sandie) Michalski, Overland Park, KS, Linda Hunsley, Desoto, KS, Connie (Mike) Kralecik, Springfield, MO and Donald (Debbie) Michalski, Piper, KS.
A funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m., Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka. Joe will lie in state from 1 to 7 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel.
