Joseph "Clyde" Cochran, 92, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 4, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Topeka, KS.
Clyde was born September 28, 1924, in Topeka, KS, to Joseph Wilson and Gladys Clorie (Spurgeon) Cochran. He graduated from Seaman High School in 1942. He was drafted into the Navy and served four years before being honorably discharged. After his discharge he attended Washburn University and Kansas State University.
In 1947, Clyde met Norma Jean "Fritzi" Subbert at the Roll-A-Way Skating Rink. They married on December 23, 1948, in Topeka, KS. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2016.
He worked as a car salesman at various dealerships. Clyde and Fritzi were longtime members of the Seaman Community Church. Together they enjoyed square dancing and traveling the world. Clyde coached their daughters' softball teams for many years.
Clyde is survived by his three daughters, Carla (Scott) Stallard of Overland Park, Terri (Kirk) Fletcher of Fayette, MO, and Marcy Bartlett of Montgomery, TX; three grandsons, Cody (Ashley) Fletcher of Henderson, TN, Shane (Derrian) Fletcher of Fayette, MO, and Jordan Bartlett of Montgomery, TX; three great-grandchildren, Braylon Bartlett, Tayleigh Fletcher and Asa-Dean Fletcher; and two sisters, Thelma Moody and Maxine Curwick.
Clyde will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Seaman Community Church, 2036 NW Taylor St, Topeka, KS 66608.
