John Wayne Stauffer, 79, Topeka, died Wed., May 2, 2012, at Midland Hospice House. He was born July 9, 1932, in Topeka, the son of LeVerne G. and Pearl M. (Oyster) Stauffer. John graduated from Seaman High School and served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. John retired from the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member of Central Park Christian Church, Topeka North Post # 400 of the American Legion, and Cypress Ridge Golf Course. John was married to Delores L. Hankamer on June 3, 1955, in Topeka. Surviving are his wife: Delores of the home; 2 daughters: Kim Adams (Eric) of Topeka and Jenny Moritz (Chris) of St. Peters, MO; 4 sons: Curt Stauffer (Cheryl) of Topeka, Kelly Stauffer (Kim) of Topeka, Scott Stauffer of Overbrook, and Doug Stauffer (Lori) of Topeka; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by a grandson, Brady Stauffer. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Fri., May 4, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave. Interment in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. John will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thurs., at the funeral chapel were the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
