He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin sister and 12 other siblings.
He worked hard for everything he had his whole life. His passion was his family and it made him happy to be able to provide for them. He was also very proud of all of their accomplishments. He enjoyed the simple things in life, being able to take his kids on a small yearly vacation, playing cards with family and friends, fishing, gardening. Later in life, he was able to accomplish his dream of retiring on his farm. He loved being able to spend time with his grandkids and show them all the wonderful things a farm and the great outdoors could offer. He loved to tell war stories and he loved to joke and laugh. He was always teaching valuable lessons..he had the wisdom of a lifetime. He, himself, was always striving to learn more and never stopped challenging his mind. He did more crossword puzzles than our whole family combined. We all knew the way to grandpa's heart was a crossword puzzle, a can of nuts, and a jar of hot sauce.
