OBITUARY: John "Wendell" Strole
John "Wendell" Strole, 64, of Topeka died Friday morning, April 29, 2005 at his home. He was born January 13, 1941 at Holton the son of John Lester and Irene L. (Pitsche) Strole.
Wendell graduated from Denison High School; served in the Holton National Guard; worked for Santa Fe Rairoad; and retired from Goodyear in 2004, after 30 years.
Wendell enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle; attending Sprint Car Races; and spending time on his farm at Birmingham, KS.
On Feb. 3, 1968, Wendell was married to Karen K. Hilgenfeld. They were married for 32 years before she preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 1999. On March 13, 2004, Wendell was married to Janice Bays..
Surviving are his wife, Janice Bays, of the home, Topeka; 2 children: Terri D. Young & husband, Greg, of Holton and Mark A. Strole & wife, Misti, of Topeka; 2 step-children: Aimee Leggett & husband, Lance, of Newton and Chris Bays & wife, Melanie, of Denver, CO; 3 grandchildren: Breann & Donovan Young and Kaylene Strole; and 1 step-grandson: Evan Bays.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tues., May 3, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Wendell will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
