OBITUARY: John Lyman Hendricks
John Lyman Hendricks was born July 10, 1935, at Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Robert Meredith and Daisy Elizabeth (Dyer) Hendricks. He entered into life eternal on September 28, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, Kansas. He attended Woodlawn Elementary School (Lawrence); Oakland Grade School; Curtis Junior High School; and graduated from Topeka High School in 1953. He graduated from Bethany Nazarene College at Bethany, Oklahoma in 1957. He pastored Yale Church of the Nazarene (Yale, Oklahoma) and Holton Church of the Nazarene (Holton, Kansas). He was a U.S. Mail Carrier in Topeka until his retirement. Brother John was a member of Oakland Church of the Nazarene.
John was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: George Arthur Hendricks (St. Joseph, Missouri) and Robert M. Hendricks, Jr. (Oregon City, Oregon) and a sister: Betty Lee Griggs (Denver, Colorado).
Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law: Beverly "Joan" and Charles D. Hutton of Lakewood, Colorado; three nieces: Linda Midyett of St. Joseph, Missouri, Judy Tull of Oregon City, Oregon, and Bonnie Jo Ohlrogge of Corydon, Kentucky; five nephews: Pastor Terry D. Hutton of Redmond, Oregon, David Hendricks of Coronado, California, Tom Griggs of Coral Gables, Florida, Jack Griggs of Westminster, Colorado and David Livingston of Springfield, Ohio; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment in Stull Cemetery, Stull, Kansas. Brother John will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
