John "Jack" C. Diemer

John “Jack” C. Diemer, age 52, of Overland Park, KS passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family.  He fought hard and amazed everyone with his courage and strength during his cancer battle.  Even during hospice care he showed his unwavering faith.  Jack was born September 6, 1967 in Carbondale, IL the son of Alan and Paula (Adams) Diemer.  They soon moved to Kansas City, MO where he graduated from Rockhurst High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri.  He worked for Sprint in Kansas City for over 28 years as a Product Management Leader in application and software development. Jack married Janet Hayen on January 11, 1997. His children were his pride and joy.  Jack was an active member of the Leawood United Methodist Church where he served as Chair of Legacy Committee, formerly served as Chair of the Board of Trustees, and he accompanied the youth group on multiple mission trips.  Jack enjoyed grilling and barbequing and he served as the grill-master of the Legacy BBQ Fundraiser for nine years. He was an avid sports fan, golfer and woodworker. He was Mr. Fix-it and the finder of deals and lost things.  Above all, Jack enjoyed taking adventures all over the country with his family.

Jack is survived by his wife, Janet of over 22 years; a son, Jacob Diemer of Overland Park, KS; a daughter, Julianne “Annie” Diemer of Kansas City, MO;  his parents, Alan and Paula Diemer of Summerfield, FL; his in-laws, Reverend Leon and Catherine Hayen of Topeka, KS. Jack truly brought light into the world around him and will be missed by everyone fortunate enough to call him a friend.

Memorial services will be Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Leawood United Methodist Church with reception immediately following.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Legacy Fund at the Leawood United Methodist Church.
