OBITUARY: John H. Johannes

John Howard Johannes, 56, Meriden, died Tues., July 2, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital, KC. He was born June 4, 1952, at Marysville, the son of Albert and Esther O. (Stohs) Johannes. John graduated from Marysville High School in 1970, and attended Clark Business School in Topeka, and began a 33 year career with BNSF. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church of Topeka. In 1978, he made his final home in Meriden. John was preceded in death by his parents,; a brother, Charles; and a sister, Ruth Sample. He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons: Jeremy and Michael of Topeka; a daughter: Melissa Valdez of Meriden; grandchildren Teagan, Connor, and Malachia; brothers: Loren and David of Topeka, a twin, James of Waterville; and Goddaughter: Rachael Brickey. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Mon., July 7, 2008, at Calvary Lutheran Church. Interment in Meriden Cemetery. John will lie in state after 1:00 PM, Sun., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
