John Herbert Bailey, Jr., 72, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017.
He was born May 28, 1945 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of John Herbert and Anna Mae (Magnett) Bailey.
John was employed by Contech Engineered Solutions as a Welder for close to 50 years.
John married Clara Dreasher on May 8, 1968 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include children, Tammy (Mark) Miller, Cathy (Patrick) Beavers, Todd Bailey, and Chris (Andrea) Bailey, all of Topeka; four grandchildren, Ashley Miller (Drew Maddox), Courtney Miller, Brandon Miller, and Rhiannon Beavers; siblings, Patricia Smith, and Robert Bailey, and loving in-laws Frances (Elmer) Eckhoff, Karen Dreasher, Margie (Leo) Stich, Bill (Cat) Dreasher, Debbie (Randy) Meggison, Mike (Mary) Dreasher, Rex (Charlene) Dreasher, Rick (Libby) Dreasher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
During his younger years, John enjoyed coyote and bird hunting, riding motorcycles, and playing softball. Later in life he came to enjoy dirt track racing, fishing, camping, and spending time with those he loved.
Honoring his request, John was cremated. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Parker-Price Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care Hospice House.
