John H. Folds, Sr., age 89, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021 in Topeka at Midland Hospice Care. John was born February 3, 1932 in Morgan, Georgia the son of George and Carrie (Hutchison) Folds. John served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Korea and Vietnam. He later served with the Kansas Air Guard. He married Anna “Annie” Eve Gartner September 8, 1956. She preceded him in death October 23, 1996. John worked as a machinist for the Atchison & Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka for over 30 years. He was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers, Local #378. John enjoyed fishing and spending time at the Shawnee County State Fishing Lake, amongst other lakes.
John was preceded in death by a son, John Folds, Jr. on December 11, 2017; a granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Flower; a grandson, Matthew John Flower; two brothers, James and George Folds; and a sister, Ann Duncan. He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Kay (Earl) Flower of Ozawkie and a son, Brian (Gena) Folds of Valley Falls, KS; a brother, Clyde (Lela) Folds of Social Circle, Georgia; a sister, Betty Reeves of Greenville, SC; and one grandson, Mitchell (Megan) Flower.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the church, with visitation from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday.
