John J. Fleenor

John J. Fleenor, age 77, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital.  John was born December 15, 1942 in Wichita to Richard and Lois Seward.  He was adopted and raised by  Jacob “Jake” C. and Mary Jane Fleenor.  He graduated from Seaman High School in 1960.  He then attended union school and became a Master plumber.  He worked with his dad, Jake from 1966 – 1989 and then owned and operated “John’s Plumbing and Heating” from 1989 until he retired in 2009.  He previously had worked for Coca Cola and Falley’s in Topeka.  He married Virginia Morstorf November 25, 1962 in Topeka.  John was a member of the Local Pipefitters Union #441.  John enjoyed going to the casinos, collecting antique liquor décor bottles and was a longtime supporter of the Special Olympics.  John had served on the board of directors of TARC.    John and Virginia had attended the First United Methodist Church.  John is survived by his wife, Virginia of over 57 years; his mother, Mary Jane Fleenor of Topeka; a son, J.J. “Stoney” Fleenor of Topeka; two daughters, Laurie (Harvey) Moore and Leana (Kraig) Fleenor-Drane, both of Topeka; two brothers, Rick Seward of Ord, Nebraska and Randy Seward of Lake Johnson, Nebraska; five sisters, Claudia Smith of Topeka, Tammy Mayes of Olathe, KS, Becky Weber of St. Joe, Missouri, Brenda Meineke of Omaha, Nebraska and Michelle Shelton of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery.  He will lie in state Tuesday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka/Shawnee County Special Olympics or Midland Hospice Care or TARC  and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.  davidsonfuneral.com
