Joellen Maxine (Geeseman) Stell, 62, of Topeka, Kansas passed away Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Midland Hospice House. She was born May 13, 1944 in Canton, Illinois the daughter of Ray and Lucille (Bath) Geeseman. She graduated from Canton Senior High School in 1962 and from Midstate Commerce College in Peoria, Illinois. She attended the Free Methodist Church in Canton, Illinois. She recently became a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Topeka. She married John S. Stell on May 4, 1968. Joellen was employed as a comptometer operator at Hiram Walker Distilleries in Peoria, Illinois until 1969. For the next fifteen years, she enjoyed raising her two daughters. After moving to Topeka, Kansas in 1984 she returned to work as an office assistant at the Kansas Industries for the Blind. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: her husband of 38 years, John S. Stell; daughter, Julie Anne Holmes and her husband, Daniel, of Topeka; daughter, Jennifer Sue Harrington and her husband Aric, of Topeka; grandchildren, Jayden Shea Gonzales, Kallan Justice Gonzales and Meagan Mariah Harrington all of Topeka. She is also survived by her brother, Ray Geeseman Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Plymouth, Illinois; by her sister Janice Ford and her husband, Morris, of Canton, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and by her cat, Princess.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday November 22, 2006 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, 66608. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. Mrs. Stell will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday and the family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
