Joe B. McFarland (Moore), 75, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009.
He was born July 11, 1934 in Richland, KS, the son of George and Ruby (McFarland) Moore. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was employed by Essex Wire, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of Church of the Living God, and United Rubber, Cork, Linoleum and Plastic Workers Local No. 851of Topeka.
Survivors include his children, Theresa (McFarland) Anderson and husband, Jason Weaver, Topeka; siblings, George Moore, Dorothy (Moore) Kline, Anna (Moore) Bennett, Eva (Moore) Hill, Mickey Moore, Sr., Lou (Moore) Avila, Jessie Smith, Paul Smith, Debbie (Smith) Lake, Harold McFarland and Stella Shearin; 5 grandchildren, Vincent Martin, Karen (Martin) Minter, Amanda Martin, Tori Weaver, and Maisy Weaver; and 3 great-grandchildren, Broden Martin, Rayden Martin and Maleigha Minter.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka. Interment will follow at Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. Mr. McFarland will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Rd., Topeka, KS 66604.
