OBITUARY: JoAnn Monhollon
JoAnn Monhollon, 77, Topeka, KS, died Fri., June 17, 2011, at her home. She was born May 17, 1934, at Clarksburg, WV, the daughter of Morley D. and Flossie D. (Ramage) Hall. She was reared at Mingo Junction, OH, and had lived in California before moving to Kansas in 1965. JoAnn had owned several small businesses before managing Plaza West Apartments, retiring in 2001. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and Meriden Chapter # 399, OES. She had served 13 years on the Private Industry Council, Shawnee County Agency on Aging, Jefferson West School Board (2 terms), and Topeka Community Council. JoAnn was married to Donald Eugene Monhollon on May 13, 1960, in Garden Grove, CA. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by 3 sons: Tim, Ronnie, and Mark Monhollon; and a brother: Donald E. Hall. Surviving are 3 sons: Steve Monhollon (Ellen) of Topeka, David Monhollon (Jan) of Ozawkie, and Michael Monhollon (Amber) of Topeka; 2 daughters: Kathy Monhollon-Blacketer of Topeka and Deanie Gory (Craig) of Dover, DE; 18 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor and a genuine love for all people. She saw the positive side of everything. She adored her family, loved her involvement in the church, and had a strong belief in God. She was affectionately known as "Nanny" to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Wed., June 22, 2011, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Interment in Meriden Cemetery. JoAnn will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tues., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
