JoAnn Lyden, age 86, of Topeka passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024 with family by her side, who will now continue to honor her legacy.
JoAnn was born October 5, 1937 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Frank and Myrtle (Crable) Smith. JoAnn was a beautiful soul that worked all her life for her family. Some lovingly called her Little Grandma because she of her short stature but her impact was greater than ever. The simplest pleasures brought great joy to JoAnn. She was always cooking and baking for her family. Her cinnamon rolls were legendary. She also took pride in her home and loved gardening and her flowers.
JoAnn married Billy D. Lyden on September 3, 1954 in Topeka, Kansas. They loved one another with all their heart and soul and to them that was always enough. Their relationship was the epitome of what love should be. They set the example for their children and grandchildren of how to show up for each other, grow together as well as support in rough times and forgive when necessary. Their love is the backbone of our family and if we all could find a fraction of what they felt for one another, we would all be blessed beyond measure.
Survivors include Billy; their children, Janet Shepard (Steve), Joyce Dryer (David), Bruce Lyden, Brad Lyden (Brenda); seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. JoAnn is now united with her parents, her four brothers, four sisters, family and friends.
