Joann L. Harries

JoAnn L. Harries, 96, of Topeka, Kansas passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024, at her daughter's home. She was born on June 13, 1927 in Topeka, Kansas, to William H. and Laura Combs Dyal. She attended Quincy Grade School, Curtis Junior High, and graduated from Topeka High School in 1945. She was a homemaker most of her life, and in later years she worked part-time at Myron Green (Place in the Country at White Lakes Mall). She retired after working nine years at K-Mart East. She was a lifelong Topekan.

She married Kenneth D. Harries on October 18,1944 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1996.

JoAnn was also preceded in death by her parents William and Laura Dyal; two brothers, Billy James Dyal and Johnny Dyal; a granddaughter, Stacy JoAnn Foster-Rojas, son-in-law Eddy Ames, and a sister-in-law Reba Dyal.

She is survived by her loving family, daughters Nancy J. Ames of Topeka, Vicki L. Foster (Rick) of Overland Park, Kansas; sons, Kenneth K. Harries (Julie) and John W. Harries (Teresa); 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church, 6020 SE 44th St Tecumseh, KS 66539. Prior to the funeral service the family will receive friends beginning at noon until the 1:00 pm service hour. Interment will follow at Topeka Cemetery.
