JoAnn Franks, 81, Topeka, died Saturday, September 16, 2017, at her home. She was born December 18, 1935, in Topeka, the daughter of Don Carlos and Carrie Louise (Peyton) Metzger.
She graduated from Topeka High School and was employed by Adams Business Forms for 30 years.
JoAnn was married to Hayes Allen Franks on August 29, 1953, in Topeka. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Lee Rumsey, on June 29, 2017; a sister, Margie Erikson; and a brother, Walter "Butch" Metzger.
Surviving are a daughter: Janet Lee Brown (Mark) of Auburn; three sisters: Donna Brandenburgh, Sue Bigham, and Darlene Maley all of Topeka; five grandchildren: Sherrie Ingenthron of Topeka, Dusty Ingenthron (Michele) of Wichita, James Robinson II of Topeka, Autumn McLaughlin (Corey) of Sedalia, MO, and Dylan Brown of Auburn; and three great-grandchildren: Ian Johnson, Jaxyn Whitehead, and James Robinson III.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35th & Menoken Road, Topeka. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
