JoAnn F. George, 70, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009.
She was born Oct. 26, 1938 in Topeka, KS, the daughter, John O. and Fern R. Ganger. She was a graduate of Carbondale High School and Washburn University.
JoAnn married Loran D. George on January 29, 1960. He survives of the home. Other survivors her children, Tamara May, Topeka, Lori Henderson, Auburn, Nancy Anderson, Carbondale, John George, Topeka, and Anthony George, Wakarusa; her brothers, John Ganger, Carbondale, and Marvin Ganger, O'Fallon, IL; 16 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was a bookkeeper for various businesses including Officers Club at Forbes Air Base and Girl Scouts of America Service Center of Northeast Kansas. She also owned and operated Teeter Tots Child Care at home. She was very active in her children's lives by serving as a Girl Scout Leader and supporting them in 4-H with their horses.
Honoring her request, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Rd., Topeka, KS 66617.
