Jo Ann Knight

Jo Ann (Kent) Knight, 85, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015.
She was born November 4, 1929, on a farm northeast of Hoyt, Kansas, the daughter of Hamilton and Ruth (Colhouer) Kent. She attended Rising Sun Grade School and was a 1947 graduate of Hoyt High School and Clarks Business College.
She worked at Santa Fe Railroad office before her marriage. Jo Ann married Harold Knight in 1950 in Hoyt, KS. He preceded her in death in March of 1984.
Survivors include four sons, Gary (Linda) Knight, Overbrook, Larry Knight, Kansas City, MO, Cole Knight, Wichita and David Knight, Florida; a grandson, Noah Knight, Overbrook; and a sister, Helen Winter, Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mildred Ostrander and Margaret Childs.
Jo Ann was a member of Hoyt United Methodist Church.
A funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Jo Ann will lie in state after 3 p.m., Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. A graveside service will be at Noon, Saturday at the Melvern Cemetery, Melvern, KS.
