Jo A. Lauffer, 78, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013.
She was born March 25, 1935, on the family farm in rural Westmoreland, KS, the daughter of Peter E. and Edith L. (McProud) Macht. She was a 1952 graduate of Wamego Rural High School. She attended Washburn University, where she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority.
Jo had been employed by Edward Jones in Lawrence since 1986.
Jo married Richard M. Lauffer on February 5, 1955 in Wamego, KS. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1993. Survivors include two daughters, Kim Lauffer, Topeka and Carol Lauffer, Rossville, KS; and two grandchildren, Casey O'Brien and Kelli O'Brien. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kimber Macht.
Mrs. Lauffer was cremated. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until Noon, Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka. Private interment will be at the Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606 or American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Road, 2 F9, Topeka, KS, 66601.
