Jimmie E. Dyer, 85, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023. He was born in in Lawton, Oklahoma on July 12, 1938, to Otis Cecil Dyer and Pauline L. Whitson/Dyer/Aldrine.
Jim attended his primary school years in Oklahoma and Dallas, Texas and graduated from Washburn Rural High School in Kansas. Jim married Barbara Vaughn on August 7, 1970.
Jim attended Washburn University and worked as a pressman at Adams Business Forms from January 1957 until his retirement on August 1, 2000.
Jim served as the secretary of the Topeka men's bowling leagues for approximately seven and a half years. Jim was a high average bowler and enjoyed traveling with bowling teams to national and state, as well as other tournaments. Jim was a very gentle man and could see only good in people.
Jim is survived by his wife Barbara of 53 years and his sister, Shirley (James) Wolf of Topeka. Jim also enjoyed his family of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Jim and his wife rescued and enjoyed many pets from the Humane Shelter.
Jim chose cremation. A celebration of his life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Parker-Price 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS 66608. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
