OBITUARY: Jessie Marie Knopp
Jessie Marie Knopp, 86, Topeka, died Thurs., May 28, 2009. She was born Aug. 28, 1922, at Wamego, the daughter of Fred and Mabel (Perkins) Madorin. Jessie was a member of Kansas Avenue Un. Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Business and Professional Women's Club, and the Auxiliary to Capitol Post # 1 of the American Legion. She had been a volunteer at Stormont-Vail for over 25 years. She had worked for the Kansas Dept. of Revenue for 37 years. Jessie was married to Owens Harrison Knopp on Feb.17, 1944. He preceded her in death. Surviving are 2 daughters: Sharon Harrison (Mike) of Pittsburg and Nora "Betsy" Allendorf (Dan) of Topeka; 4 grandchildren: Angie- Kristin Price of Topeka, Dr. Pam Harrison of Emporia, Dr. David Harrison of Lubbock, TX, and Amber Bonnell of Lawrence; 8 great-grandchildren: Josie & Abby Price of Topeka, Annie & Caroline Harrison of Emporia, Aaron, Katarina, & Kamdon Harrison of Lubbock, TX, and Dawson Bonnell of Lawrence; 2 nephews and a niece.. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Madorin, on Jan. 20, 1998. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Tues., June 2, 2009, at Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM, Tues., June 2, 2009, at Wamego City Cemetery. Jessie will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Mon., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
