Jerry Ray Wofford
Jerry Ray Wofford, 65, Lenexa, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Heartland Medical Center, St. Joseph, MO, of injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle accident on I-29 in Platte County, Missouri on Monday evening. Jerry was born December 3, 1947, at Rock Creek, the son of Floyd Ray and Florence Maxine (Means) Wofford.
Jerry was reared in Ozawkie and graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1965 and from Kansas State University. Jerry continued to be an avid K-State fan and attended all the football games in Manhattan as well as most of the away games. He was a life-time member of the Kansas State University Alumni Association.
After graduation from K-State he immediately went to work for Topeka Inn Management which became California Inn Management. After Linquist and Brock dissolved their partnership he became a member of Linquist and Craig's staff, where he was senior vice-president of operations. From 2004 to 2011 he owned and operated his own hospitality and consulting business. In September 2013, he joined TR Lodging Enterprises, Inc. as vice-president of operations. He was a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA).
Jerry was married to Teresa Ann "Terry" Smith on January 1, 1967, in Oskaloosa.
Jerry is survived by his wife: Terry Wofford of the home, Lenexa; children: Christopher Bishop Wofford and his wife, Stephanie, of Lenexa and Tyece Minyon Wofford of Lenexa; three grandchildren: Haley Corinne Wofford, Cameron Riley Wofford, and Cole Samuel Wofford all of Lenexa; brother: Jackie Means Wofford and wife, Linda, of Clarksdale, MS; a niece and several nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: June Renfroe; and a nephew, Jackie Ray Wofford.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 11, 2013, at Valley Falls Cemetery, Valley Falls, Jefferson County, Kansas.
Jerry will lie in state after 2:00 PM, Sunday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, Kansas, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
