Jerry Leon Bailey
Jerry Leon Bailey, 62, Topeka, died Sun., April 27, 2008, at his home. He was born April 20, 1946, in Topeka, the son of Forrest A. and Mildred L. (McVay) Bailey.
Jerry graduated from Highland Park High School. He served in the U.S. Navy, from 1964 to 1967. Jerry was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Topeka for 15 years before becoming a Postmaster for 15 years, retiring from the Auburn Post Office, in 2001. He was a Records Clerk for Capitol Federal the past 5 years. He was a hard working man, who loved his family, the people he worked with, and God.
He was married to Jane Louise King on April 20, 1970, in Topeka.
Surviving are his wife: Jane of the home; 2 daughters: Jennifer Bailey and Jessica Bailey, both of Topeka; and a brother: Larry Hastings of Baton Rouge, LA.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wed., April 30, 2008, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. The U.S. Navy will conduct military honors at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Jerry will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tues., at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606-2800.
