Jerry Carl Runkle
Jerry Carl Runkle, 59, Silver Lake, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at his home. He was born February 1, 1957, in Topeka, the son of Jack Stanley and Grace Isabel (Ausherman) Runkle.
Jerry graduated from Seaman High School in 1975. He had worked at Southwest Bowl and retired from the Shawnee County Sheriff's Department after 35 years of service. Jerry was a member of the Elmont United Methodist Church. He was an avid bowler, loved working on cars, fishing, hunting, and coaching his daughters and others in softball and bowling.
He was married to Nancy Sue Naylor on April 11, 1981, at Elmont.
Surviving are his wife: Nancy of the home; two daughters: Ashley Adame (Richard) of Topeka, and Leslie Runkle of Silver Lake; mother: Grace Runkle of Topeka; siblings: Connie Arbogast (Virgil) of Topeka, Larry Runkle (Debbie) of Cabot, AR, and Janet Hayes (Steve) of Perry; two grandchildren: Madisyn Adame and Noah Adame both of Topeka.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35th & Menoken Road, Topeka.
Jerry will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Friday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
