OBITUARY: Jerry Brown
Jerry Brown, 60, of Mayetta, passed away May 11, 2007, at his home. He was born December 3, 1946, in Topeka to Jerome E. and Juanita M. (Bohnsack) Brown. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1966. Jerry proudly served in the United States Marine Corps in the Republic of Vietnam. As a member of a Marine Rifle Squad he was wounded in action and awarded the Purple Heart. Following his medical retirement from the Marine Corps, and honorable discharge in 1969, he became a self employed locksmith and later worked as a locksmith for the State of Kansas retiring in 2002. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Jerry is survived by his wife Shirley; stepdaughter Sheri Lee, and her husband, Jim, of Topeka; stepson Frank Reeb, Lawrence, Kansas, two sisters Kay Scheibe and her husband, Rick, and Judy Brown, alll of Topeka. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer and Megan Lee of Topeka, and Savannah and Macie Reeb of Lawrence; and two daughters, Terry and Jennifer.
Jerry will lie in state after 12:00 noon, Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue. The family will greet friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 14, 2007, at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the V.F.W. Post #10815, Meriden, KS 66512.
