He was the son of Charles Woodrow Franklin and Ruth Ann (Hansjergen) Franklin.
Jerry married Patricia Franzel on November 1962. She preceded him in death on July 20, 2014.
To this union, they had one son, Jay Michael Franklin. He passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2024.
