Jennifer Jill Szabo, age 51, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at her home in Topeka after a four-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Jenny was born September 27, 1971 in Topeka, the daughter of Michael and Sandy (Hollenbeck) Barnes. Jenny graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1990. She married Jon Haas, they later divorced. She married Peter Szabo June 2, 2018. Jenny worked at the State of Kansas, but cherished her time at home with her family as a stay-at-home mom.
Jenny was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wilma and Edmond Barnes, Aletha and WM John Hollenbeck, Uncle Fred Hollenbeck, and best friend’s daughter whom she loved as her own, Brittany Dunn. Jenny is survived by her husband, Peter; three sons, Taylor (Kennedy) Haas, Jared Haas and Luke Haas, all of Topeka; two daughters, Kali Haas and Jessica Haas, both of Topeka; brother, Chris Barnes of North Carolina and two grandchildren, Lincoln and Olivia Haas. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins. Jenny loved sports, concerts and just hanging with friends. She loved her dogs very much, Sterling, Oliver, and her granddogs, Hazel and Mr. Otis.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Bible Church, 4021 SE 37 th Street, Topeka. She will lie in state Monday from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Private family interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Metavivor.org, a breast cancer research organization for Stage 4 breast cancer, and left in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. davidsonfuneral.com
