Jeanette Josephine Kelly, 71, of Topeka, passed away, Saturday, April 21, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born April 22, 1935 in Waterville, Kansas the daughter of Alvin and Elsie Mullin and Ted Sumner. Jeanette graduated from Curtis Junior High School and attended Topeka High School.
Mrs. Kelly was a 50 year member of Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church. She was a member of United Methodist Women and JOY Group. She was a graduate of the Menninger Bible Study Course.
She was a Tupperware Dealer for 17 years beginning in the late 1950's. She was a 30 year member of Strato Jets Square Dance Club. Jeanette and her husband Wally were Round Dance Instructors for many Clubs including Strato Jets, Flip Sides, Top Kan, Swinging Squares and Square Delites in Lawrence, KS. She served as Treasurer of Croco Square Inc.
Jeanette married George "Wally" Kelly June 4, 1952 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include, her daughters, Diana Malsom and her husband Ray and Ginger Patterson and her husband Stephen, her brothers, Donnie Sumner and his wife Helen, Bob Mullin and his wife Tina, her sister in law, Rose Sumner and brother in law, Jerry Brunin, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy K. Mullin, her brother Ted Sumner and her sister Dottie Brunin.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery. Mrs. Kelly will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. that evening.
