Jean Marie Sharrai
Jean Marie Sharrai, 89, Topeka, died Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Midland Hospice House. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was born August 1, 1927, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Manly Adrian and Jeanette Alice (Hertel) Norlin.
Jean graduated from Salina High School in 1945. She was a proof reader for Josten's before retiring. She was a member of Fellowship Bible Church and the Auxiliary to Capitol Post # 1, of the American Legion where she had served as Treasurer. She was a volunteer for St. Francis Hospital, American Red Cross, American Heart Association, and Colmery-O'Neil V.A.M.C.
Jean was married to Earl Leslie Sharrai on September 17, 1950, in Topeka. He preceded her in death on November 18, 2005.
Surviving are three children: KarenSue Sharrai Alber (James) of Frankfort, Leslie Earl Sharrai (Deb) of Berryton, and John Edward Sharrai (Susan) of Topeka; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and her beloved dog, Peanut.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, January 30, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Avenue, Topeka.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Jean will lie in state from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Sunday, at the funeral chapel.
