Jared Calvin Ransone, 35, of Silver Lake, passed away on October 5, 2022 at his home.
He was born on June 15, 1987 to Dennis and Georgia (Nugent) Ransone in Topeka, KS.
Jared attended Silver Lake Grade School, Northern Hills Jr. High, and Seaman High School where he graduated in 2006. After graduation Jared enlisted in the United States Army. He served with the First Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood, Texas. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2009-2010, Operation New Dawn, and Operation Spartan Shield from 2011-2012. During his time served, Jared earned many decorations, such as, the Iraq Campaign Medal with 2 campaign stars, Army Commendation Medal (second award), and the Army Achievement Medal. Jared also earned numerous awards, such as, the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver-Wheeled Vehicle (S) Clasp. Jared served for 4 years before being honorably discharged. He then joined the National Guard. Jared attended Washburn University and later Washburn Tech, earning a certificate in Electrical Technology in 2019. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union #304 and the Disabled American Veterans.
Jared had many jobs throughout his life. He was an electrician and was currently employed at Home Depot in Topeka, working in the warehouse.
Jared is survived by his loving parents, Georgia and Dennis of Silver Lake, Kansas; sisters, Jessica (Brad) Henry of Topeka, Kansas and Marisa Snyder of Parkville, Missouri; and grandmother, Mary George Sorrell of Greenwood, Louisiana.
Jared was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dennis & Margaret Ransone and grandfather, John R. Nugent.
Graveside Service was held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 12:30 pm at the Silver Lake Cemetery.
