Janice LaNoir (Jacques) Newbold
January 14, 1938 – April 15, 2025
Janice LaNoir (Jacques) Newbold passed away peacefully at Rossville Healthcare on April 15, 2025.
She was born January 14, 1938, in her family’s home in North Topeka, Kansas, to George L. and Clara Ethel (Ward) Jacques. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother George L. Jacques Jr., and her sister Yvonne F. Remfry.
Janice attended Grant Grade School, Curtis Junior High, and Topeka High School. She was a proud 50-year member of the Helena Chapter #210 of the Order of the Eastern Star. In her younger years, she was an avid roller skater, winning several awards for her talent and enthusiasm.
Professionally, Janice dedicated much of her life to hospitality, working as a Convention Service Coordinator at Holiday Inn in both Topeka, Kansas, and Lakewood, Colorado.
Janice was a passionate collector of Native American art and jewelry, and she enjoyed reading, photography, and capturing family moments on her beloved 8 mm video camera — bright lights and all. She was playful and mischievous in spirit and loved creating stained glass pieces, which she gifted to friends and family.
She was first married to Robert L. Oliver on November 11, 1961; they later divorced. He preceded her in death. On March 10, 1988, she married Harry Newbold in Golden, Colorado, who also preceded her in death.
Janice is survived by her three daughters: Nan (Bill) Lloyd, Crys (Eric) Bohn, and Suzie Oliver; two stepsons: David (Annetta) Newbold and Chuck (Serena) Newbold; two grandchildren: Jessica (Levi) Addington and Derick Bohn; and five step-grandchildren: Todd Lloyd, Terri McKinley, Cathy Johnson, Linda Cleveland, Charlie Newbold (who preceded her in death). She also leaves behind one great-grandchild, Dalton Addington; nine step-great-grandchildren: Haden, Jake, and Lydia McKinley; Hayley and Gavin Johnson; Alyssa Montes and Makenna Addington; Austin and Savannah Cleveland; as well as one great-great-grandchild on the way and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Interim Healthcare Hospice, 1251 SW Arrowhead, Suite 103, Topeka, KS, in care of Cooper—the therapy dog who brought Janice joy during his visits.
A Celebration of Life for Janice will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Parker Price, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608.
