Janice Eileen Jeane

Janice Eileen Reed Jeane, age 97 passed away on March 22, 2022 in Topeka, Kansas.

Janice was born on October 3, 1924 in Kansas City, MO to Lowell T. Reed and Mary Ruth Cannon Reed. She graduated from Florence Union High School in Florence, AZ in 1942.

Janice was raised on a cattle ranch in Arizona and loved her horses and ranching. She later moved to Missouri and for 20 years she was Physician's Assistant and Office Manager for a medical doctor in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Thereafter, she moved to Topeka, Kansas and became a medical secretary and transcriptionist for various doctors as well as Stormont Vail Hospital, and retiring after 11 years from the office of Robert Durst, Jr., MD.
Janice and her husband Ray (Arnold Ray Jeane) were country and western musicians and played all over Kansas with their band, "The Blue Jeans". They enjoyed many years of get-together's playing music with their friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Forrest Lattimer and her loving husband Arnold Ray Jeane, her parents and her beloved sister, Joyce Jean Reed Smith.

She is survived by her niece, Jill Musgrove of Milford, Delaware, her nephew, Brian Hammontree of Topeka, Kansas, her great nephew, Matthew Bosher of Farmers Branch, Texas. She is also survived by her five stepdaughters, Gaynell Howell, Brenda Hilburn, Zelda Dearman, Glenda Lyles, and Delta Ringwald, dear friend Lynn Drake and many cousins.

Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery and she will rest beside her husband Ray.

Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, Midland Hospice, or Prairie Wind Hospice.
