Janet Jean "Missie" Sharples Snook, 52, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015.
She was born June 19, 1962 in Topeka, the daughter of Leonard Eugene and Janet Louise (Spillman) Grey. She was a 1980 graduate of Seaman High School and Kaw Valley Vo-Tech where she received her LPN and attended Washburn University.
Missie was employed by the Colmery O'Neil VAMC, retiring January 21, 2014.
Survivors include her husband, Steven Lyle Snook, Topeka; five children, Thomas Lee (Kajsa) Sharples, Concordia, KS, Melissa Ila Sharples, Topeka, Marriah Jean Snook, Topeka, Joseph Andrew Snook, Kansas City, MO and Sandra Sue Snook, Kansas City, MO; a granddaughter, Karma Jade Sharples and one expected; her mother, Janet Grey, Topeka; two brothers, Michael E. Grey, and Shawn L. Grey, both of Topeka; a niece and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents, Roy and Alberta Spillman and Leonard and Erma Grey.
Missie was an artist who enjoyed camping, fishing, crocheting, making her own patterns and loved animals.
A funeral ceremony will be 1 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment will follow at the Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. Missie will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m.
